Gr 6 Up—A thoroughly engaging—albeit sometimes gross—dive into the history of medicine and deadly diseases.
Packed with little-known facts about ailments that have haunted the human population for centuries, this wellresearched title will fascinate readers.

Fascinating and well researched.I did not know anything about plastic surgery and knew very little about World War I. This book brought the personal stories to life, from the soldiers, doctors and nurses to the artists and sculptors who helped reconstruct faces and lives.
There’s even a cameo by Marie curie. Well worth the read

This was a great book. An overview of Lister's life focusing primarily on how he developed his antiseptic processes and how they were received. The author pulls out all the stops in emphasizing just how blood, pus and feces filled the era was. Lister emerges as a modest champion and lifesaver and I especially liked the glimpses of his relationship with Pasteur.
