- Donald Hendricks was born in Flint, Michigan, November 3, 1931. He attended Flint Junior College and the University of Michigan, where he received his A. B. degree in Political Science in 1954 and his A.M.L.S. in 1955.
Subsequently he has served as a Young Adult Librarian in the Detroit Public Library; Head Librarian at the Owosso, Michigan, Public Library; Assistant Chief Librarian at the Decatur, Illinois, Public Library; and Head Librarian at Millikin University, Decatur, Illinois.
While working toward his doctorate, he was employed at the Library Research Center, University of Illinois, and obtained a grant from the Cooperative Research Branch of the U.S. Office of Education to complete his study. He has served on committees and as a secretary of the Illinois Library Association. He has contributed to library periodicals and served as editor of Illinois Libraries.
Hendricks is now Director of Libraries at Sam Houston State College in Huntsville, Texas.
