A book about recycling and the life of a water bottle
On this giant spinning ball live eight billion people, all in all. A bear can be quite proud to call each and every one a friend. Every single person in this world is special and different from everyone else. This sweet story about a bear looking for a friend is a celebration of our amazing diversity, and of all the things that make each of us unique.
First Book of the Advent Calendar - "An Aristocat-ic Christmas". Frankly, The Aristocats has never been one of my top favorite movies - maybe because I wasn't a cat lady when I watched them. However this book was cute. It gave a good message about giving back to others who might not have as much as you do. I'm excited to see what the other books bring!
Day 2 of my advent calendar and I'm sad. I got the advent calendar because it promised "All New Stories inside" with a bright blue ornament on the cover, well I'm not sure how they figured that out because today's story "Ariel's Christmas Under the Sea" felt really familiar. I remember reading this story and enjoying the idea that Ariel was teaching her family to accept the humans living on the shore. Sure enough the same story is in my "Disney's Christmas Storybook", (copyright 2000). I glanced at the contents and sure enough "An Aristocat-ic Christmas" is in this book as well. So much for the "All New Stories inside" tag on the front of the advent calendar. I will continue to see what the rest of the stories bring, I just wish that it really had had "all new stories" inside.
Day 3 of the Advent Calendar: "Mulan and the Lucky Cricket". I heard a friend say that they got it yesterday instead of the Little Mermaid story? So maybe there were packing differences between calendars? Also I wonder if I should have gotten the Disney Princess Storybook Advent Calendar because I do love the princesses. Anyways this wasn't a "Christmas" book but instead about luck and helping others, with a setting when it's snowing. After a bit of bad luck, Mulan realizes that Cri-Kee (their lucky cricket) is missing. She follows him out into the snow. Together Mulan and Mushu learn the real reason that Cri-Kee left the warm home. I do not think I have read this one before. I also really loved Mulan's cloak/coat she wore!… (more)

Premise/plot: A lion and his cub spend the day together. This board book is written in rhyming verse.
My thoughts: This one was originally published in the UK. I couldn't figure out if it was also published in the U.S. or if the library just ordered it from the UK. It is cutesy and adorable. If that's your favorite kind of board book, then this one should appeal. If you are drawn to the cover, then you'll appreciate the interior illustrations as well.… (more)
