Running QuickBooks in Nonprofits: The Only C… by Kathy Ivens
While this text offers a handful of useful tips, it's largely a manual on QuickBooks with a few references to nonprofit templates thrown in. For the QuickBooks beginner, it may be helpful. For the experienced QuickBooks user, it will help very little in learning how to tailor the program for nonprofit use.
If you are responsible for bookkeeping for a non-profit corporation and choose QuickBooks, this is the only book available and it is five years out of date. Nevertheless, accounting practices don't change like technology does, so the book is still highly useful. Also, QuickBooks isn't really set up for non-profits (I speak of the "Pro" edition), and the author shows you how to do it right with all the workarounds. Essential.
Quickbooks is an Incredibly good soffware program which has been tweeked to work for Non profits and charities. The Canadian version does the CRA tax return.
ivens has written an excellent guide to using it, especially good since so many of the poeple keeping the books in small groups are voluteers, not just running the program but general, good advise on policy and procedures for charities. My only beef is she uses the American version. But both payroll and the CRA return are easier than the American version.… (more)

She actually puts humour into the clear and concise explainations of how to use these different editions of Quickbooks.
