A typically well-written and referenced book by Michael Laffan. The book is very accessible to both an academic and a non-academic audience. The book also provides a concise bibliography to encourage further reading on the topic of the partition of Ireland.

This is an excellent piece of research and is essentially the authentic account of the genesis of Sinn Féin. It is an exhaustive and extensive piece of work and is also highly readable, two characteristics atypical in works of this nature. The book provides an extensive bibliography and useful mini biographies of the senior and minor protaganists of the time.
