Short biography
Angel Martinez is the erotic fiction pen name of a writer of several genres. I’ll be honest. The most I ever knew about Puss n' Boots was the cute Antonio Banderas portrayal in the Shrek movies, so I looked it up and got the gist of the fairytale. This was quite the charming m/m reimagining.

Sweet, down on his luck Willem finds that he’s inherited the family cat from his late father and is quite baffled and a bit miffed that he didn’t get more. Not that much gets him down with his ever optimism and kind heart, but he’s taken aback when said cat starts talking to him and promises to help set some of the things in his life right.

Kasha is not a only a cat but forever serving penance to help those he’s bound to. Sometimes he hates them, most of the time he’s ambivalent. Funny how after all these years he might just actually have strong feelings for his new charge.

Overall a simple story about love and redemption. It doesn’t hurt at all that this was sexy, had a good dose of action, and had a satisfying ending! Again, a very nice retelling of a classic tale.

Too short. It started out nice and it has the potential for a novel. I thought I had bought a novel, quite frankly. And then it's over with a quick recap looking back on what should have been the book...

My kind of hurt/comfort - lovely and dense, especially for a 10,000-ish story (I tend to go for the hundreds of thousands of words). Lovely characterisation and really fascinating worldbuilding. I would love to read more re: the main character's recovery! But this alone was very satisfying, and look forward to sinking my teeth into more of this author's writing. :D

Synopsis: Vikash and Kyle are together, but Vikash doesn't want to let anyone at work know, and doesn't want to go out together as friends, either, in case someone sees them a guesses that they are dating. While they are out on a job, Vikash is suddenly in a different world, in what appears to be sometime in the future. As Vikash realizes that he is in the future, he also realizes that Kyle is long dead. When Vikash comes to in his own time, he finds out that it is a bug that caused him to time travel. As they work to try and contain the bugs that are causing people to hop time, Vikash has to come to terms with the fact that Kyle is growing farther away from him, and deal with the bugs that keep infecting him.

What I liked: that Kyle understood Vikash. I liked that as Vikash travelled in time and realized that Kyle wasn't going to be there with him, he realized how much Kyle meant to him. He couldn't entirely get over his reticence about being open in public, but when Kyle's life is in danger, Vikash does everything that he can to bring Kyle back.

What I didn't like: I felt that the world building could be better, and more interesting.
