I read a lot of WWII fiction and much of it is based on real people and/or situations. This book takes place in Poland where an American horse trainer is trying to move 250 Arabian horses to safety as the Germans move their troops into Poland. She knows that if the horses stay in Poland, they will be stolen, sold or eaten. She's undertaking an almost impossible task but has the help of Bret who claims to be a news reporter but is actually a spy for England. There are feelings between them but the task of getting the horses to safety is more important to romance. They run into danger at every turn and you wonder if they will achieve their goal. The book is a bit slow in parts but overall is another good addition to the popular WWII novels. This is a debut for Nicole Miller and I look forward to her future books.… (more)

Until Our Tome Comes, by Nicole M. Miller takes place in Poland during World War II. This is a historical romance story that tells the true history of Janów Podlaski Arabian Horses. I found this story to be enjoyable and interesting. The beginning was a little slow going but once I got into the story I really enjoyed it. The story has great, strong characters and gives a look into what it may have been like for the people in Poland during WWII. I enjoyed the character of Adia very much. She was strong and did what she had to for the horses and her people. I especially enjoyed how she cared for Ewan and the bits of trouble he would get into with taking things. I admired her character as she went to great risk to help children escape Poland, as well as how she kept faithful to her friendship with Bret for so many years. I enjoyed this story and the great detail the author put into it making it an enjoyable story to read that focused on true events.

I voluntarily received a complimentary copy of this book, this is my honest review.

I love the unique elements of this WWII story. I'd never heard of Poland's Janow Podlaski horses prior to this read, so this element was especially fascinating. The author clearly knows horses (something I know nothing about) so it felt authentic and believable.

Adia is stubborn and interesting, though it too me a little bit to connect with her. I loved the light romance between her and Bret, but also like how it didn't overtake the story. The faith element is light as well, giving a lightness and hope to some dark and dangerous times.

This is an interesting, unique, and satisfying WWII story that gives me a more rounded view of the war time tragedies and triumphs.
Thank you to LibraryThing for my complimentary Early Reviewers copy.

An epic WWII story set in Poland and Czechoslovakia. Full of history, adventure and a romance.

An impressive debut novel, with main characters who face many dangerous situations and put their lives on the line throughout the war years. Adia's courageous mission to save the unique horses, and help vulnerable children as well, is inspirational.
There are tense moments lending some suspense to the story and perilous times as they endure the war years. It made me appreciate the bravery and sacrifice of people caught in the conflict between Germany and Russia. The author lends her firsthand knowledge of horses to make the story feel authentic. A few brief mentions of faith added hope.

Fans of inspirational WWII stories with a little clean romance may enjoy this book. 4.5 stars
