I liked this book for a few reasons. I liked it because the message it can teach its young readers. The message behind the story which is you can easily dislike something that you can not have. Children can learn that just because they or someone doesn't like something or someone, and said something mean about them, its probably because they can have or don't have something that that person may have. I also enjoyed the illustrations because they fit the mood of the story.

“Pollyanna” makes the reader realize that they should always be happy for what they have. Even if something is going wrong in your life, things could always be worse so you should find something good about the situation you are in. It is better to be happy in life then to be sulking. Pollyanna learned to be glad that she had injured her legs because she realized how blessed she had been in the first place to have working legs, arms and hands. Pollyanna was able to touch so many people’s lives just by being happy and kind and helping people realize the great things they have to be glad about in their lives. This story really encourages being happier in life and appreciating everything you have because no matter how bad things can get you are still alive and have other positive things you can celebrate.… (more)

This book was so engaging! My 4th grade class just finished reading it and they loved it as much as I did. I love the wonderful use of adjectives to describe the situations Pollyanna is going through. The students were very sad when we finished because they enjoyed it so much!
