A very intruiging book as Orizio tracks down and interviews members of what could be described as "white folks gone native".

Orizio dishes up for us the Burghers of Sri Lanka, the Baster of Namibia, the white southerners who moved to Brazil after the Civil War, and others. I had known of a few of these but Orizio expertly weaves in their history, what makes them unique and how they now face danger in hanging on to their culture.

Set of 7 interviews with deposed dictators. Fascinating view into their psychology - about how they all come from different backgrounds and origins, the one thing they have in common is their brutality, their self-serving nature and their ability to blame others and hide in utter banality. Only one expresses anything close to regret.
