Michael Quinn Patton is an independent consultant who has been conducting program evaluations since the 1970s. Based in Minnesota, he was on the faculty of the University of Minnesota for 18 years and is a former president of the American Evaluation Association.

A wonderful addition to the evaluation field. I'm so happy to have the benefit of Patton's vast experience and eclectic approach to evaluation, developmental evaluation in particular, in one place. Has helped me sort out a number of issues about DE, how it is different from utilization-focused evaluation, how Outcome Mapping fits into the DE continuum, etc. It will probably be hard for a novice evaluator to understand and get through--lots of story-telling, which I find important and useful, but leads to a bit of a meandering style. The indexing is not well done, which I know I'll find frustrating when I'm trying to locate some nugget.… (more)
