This is not a textbook in the usual sense of the word, nor is it written in a "popular scientific" style. Rather, it has been our desire to give the reader a broad view of the underlying notions behind fractals, chaos and dynamics. In addition, we have wanted to show how fractals and chaos relate to each other and to many other aspects of mathematics as well as to natural phenomena.
