About the Author
As a member of the Royal Academy, David Roberts began his career painting scenes of castles and chapels in and around his native home of Stockbridge, near Edinburgh. Born in 1796, Roberts was hailed throughout his career as an extra-ordinarily talented oil painter. With the publication of Roberts' show more Holy Land, his fame spread. He died in 1864. show less
