Mark Rosewater

It took me awhile to complete this book - it isn't the type of book that you quickly read and finish. This book was written some time ago - the latest Magic sets it covers is Ice Age, 4th Edition, and Homelands. Therefore, the rule set that it uses is very old, and several of the puzzles are broken by current rules (such as mana burn, state based life total check, and others). Still, the puzzles are fun to examine and solve. I admit that I would resort to the solutions quite often. It was a nice nostalgic throw back to me, as I entered the game about the same time this book was published. Even so, many of the cards are no longer familiar to me.

Fans of the history of the game will still enjoy this book, but modern Magic fans will probably find this book very frustrating.… (more)
