The title alone piqued my interest. The idea of decluttering a whole home all at once can be rather overwhelming, but taking it in small bites is definitely a lot more manageable. This short volume is a compilation of tips, organized in such a way as to be read in short spurts—definitely not overwhelming at all! The tips themselves are not intimidating, but very practical and easy to implement. Mixed in among the tips are “Ask yourself” questions that, like Kondo’s "The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up", encourage you to consider your thought processes in how you handle your stuff.

Like Kondo’s title, this is another one that I’ve added to my personal eBook collection, due to it’s practicality. As I continue to tackle my personal clutter bit by bit, I see myself consulting it for it’s practical tips. I think it a makes a more practical partner to Kondo’s book and both could be used together in my clutter elimination efforts. For those who find Kondo’s approach intimidating, this title stands well by itself as a good way to get started.

Super quick to read.

Standout tips:

p. 32 Kids can help clean baseboards with socks on their hands. (If more than one kid - whose sock puppet gets dirtiest?)

p. 184 For pet "accidents":
-Blot the wet area with a towel
-Apply a solution of 1/4 tsp dishwashing liquid and 1 cup warm water - do not over-wet
-Absorb moisture with paper towels, rinse with warm water, repeat until no transfer to towels
-Apply a solution of 1 cup white vinegar and 2 cups water with a towel and blot dry (stand on it)
-Dry with a stack of paper towels until they absorb no more moisture

p. 196-197 Spearmint and peppermint oil repel insects and rodents

p. 199 Guidelines for handling mouse droppings: DO NOT sweep or vacuum; dampen them with disinfectant and wipe them up. Bag the towels and dispose of them. Wear gloves, and wash hands thoroughly.
