Colonel George Stewart was born in Webb City, Missouri, in 1892. He moved in early boyhood with his stepmother and father to the latter's farm in Colorado, then to the Payette River Valley of Idaho, when he was fourteen.
Those were years when hard times were the norm, and low prices, little money, and hard work were taken for granted. The hard work took him through Yale by 1917, then into the regular Army where he rose from private to to Battalion Commander.
During the next thirty years he engaged in volunteer service work at home and liaison work abroad, earning many civilian honors and decorations from almost a dozen foreign countries.
Now retired, Colonel Stewart lives in Dublin, New Hampshire, and travels and writes extensively.
