Graham Sumner

The exceptional quality of the graphics are a result of the author's ability to write not only the text but to paint the illustrations as well. This is a neglected area but one improved by the author's re-enactment participation which enables him to view the material from a personally informed perspective. One revelation is the area of Roman sports competition which deserves further study.
