Solid fifty thousand foot overview of Continental prior to its decline in the ‘80’s-90’s. Due the scope of the products and the amount of time the book covers, the coverage is minimal along individual topics or people. But and this is important, if you’re looking for in-depth coverage (At least on the aircraft side) you’ll find the book riddled with little nit-picky errors. For all that, it’s a solid chatty and informal history of a company that was a powerhouse in engine development, design and production across automotive, marine, aviation and the military for decades.
I was looking for info on the Hyper and Tiara engines, so from an aviation perspective cannot recommend the book at all. For other readers with an interest in automotive or military vehicles the book comes across as a fairly informative non-technical read.
Only recommended as a light, entertaining general read.

What amazed me was how many big name auto manufacturers private labeled engines made by Continental. For example, my 1929 Peerless had such an engine. It was known as a Peerless L Head 6, but was really a Continental Red Seal Engine private labeled. It gave me a different perspective of the automobile industry.
