I won this as part of a Goodreads Giveaway.

To be honest this really wasn't my kind of book due to the way it was written. I found it to be quite distracting in the way the chapters switched between characters, each of them telling the story form their point of view. I did find I had to keep flipping back to the beginning of the chapter to remind myself who I was reading about.

The story was well written and, at times, quite uncomfortable to read making me put it down for a while to regroup before continuing.

As this was the first book by this Author I have read, I may pick up another of the books, to see if they are all written in the first person.

The Other Mistress by Shanora Williams starts off with an author’s note that warns readers about trigger content. I am glad it is included, but it would have been nice if this was included in the blurb (and then I would not have chosen this book). The Other Mistress starts off on a good note. But then the pacing slows down considerably. I struggled to get through the story to the end. The story is told mostly from Adira’s point of view. We learn very little about Adira in the first half of the book except that she is a successful, rich lingerie designer and that she loves Gabriel, her two-timing husband. I quickly tired of hearing how Adira felt for Gabriel. I do not know how she could forgive cheating and plan to have a child with this man. The dialogue was awkward. The twist at the end was expected. I figured it out long before the reveal. The ending was predictable. There were some bits that were off and there are many holes in the story (think Swiss cheese). I ended up with more than a few questions at the end. The author’s warning was spot on. I ended up skimming over these disturbing sections. I do feel that readers should be warned before obtaining the book. As you can tell, The Other Mistress was not a hit with me.… (more)

Adira is deeply in love with Gabriel and wants to start a family. But, she finds out that he is having an affair with someone. When she confronts the person, they decide to help her in her quest to win Gabriel back.
But, it is more complicated than that.
I was really enjoying the novel until the big twist, and then I was disappointed. I won't give away the twist, but I didn't like it.

I did enjoy this book as Ivy tried to weasel her way into Lola’s life because she found out she was responsible for killing her parents. Well Ivy might think she has the upper hand but she is wrong. There are other players trying to take Lola down. Unexpected twists!

Thank you @bibliolifestyle @kensingtonbooks for the gifted copy.
