I liked this book. I think it's not really a book of poems, but rather a poetic love story and I found it very interesting. I had a problem with the melody of some of the poems, but they all seemed so fresh, young and honest, that it didn't really matter.

I typically avoid fantasy these days since it feels repetitive to me and doesn't seem to have anything new to offer. But I knew I had to read The Marionettes because Katie is incredible and deserves all our support, plus I like vampires (thanks to Buffy). I'm overjoyed to report that The Marionettes is exactly what I've been missing in the fantasy genre. It feels fresh and original, with a nod to what made the genre great in the first place. I'm looking forward to seeing where the series goes from here.… (more)

I have been reflecting on this poetry collection since I read it back in November. I had just ended a super toxic friendship/relationship and so I found that I related to a lot of the collection.

I highly recommend reading The Sweetest Kind of Poison, even if you haven't been in a toxic relationship.
