I bought this a long time ago, didn't get to read it then but now I needed the knowledge. A bit to the old side but otherwise a nice and comprehensive introduction to procedural PHP.

PHP & MySQL: Novice to Ninja by Kevin Yank

Well written book, with great examples. The text is clear and steps you through the basics and on into more advanced topics but not really "ninja" level).

Well worth it for learning more about PHP and MySQL usage.

Note: The book may still be available though several sites as a free PDF.
