| Description | Henriette Deluzy Desportes (1813-1875) was at the center of a major scandal in mid-19th century Paris. She was the governess to the children of the Duc and Duchesse de Praslin. When the Duchesse was found murdered, the Duc was accused of the crime, and Henriette was arrested as his accomplice. However, the Duc then committed suicide and she was released for lack of evidence. She later moved to the USA and married a minister. The Praslin case was considered a factor in the French Revolution of 1848 that overthrew King Louis-Phillippe. |
