Description | Raleigh Rimell (c.1902-1925?), who grew up in Seaton Devonshire, was a close friend since boyhood of Jack Fawcett, the oldest son of explorer Percy Fawcett. He and Jack joined Percy Fawcett on what was to be his last Amazonian expedition, in 1925. The fate of the three is unknown. Rimell's father, a navy surgeon, died of cancer when his son was 15. Rimell was described as nearly six feet tall, muscular, dark haired with a pronounced widow's peak and a mustache. He was clownish and jocular in contrast to his friend Jack, who was serious-minded. |
