I know China (I worked with his Mum in Havana) - like the man but his books are not my thing at all, I've never been able to get into one.

Neverwhere was interesting - I loved the multitudinous threads that looked like a lot of loose ends but did all resolve into a coherent whole.

I've been slowly reading Un Lun Dun by China Mieville, which reminds me a bit of Neverwhere. (Not the story itself, but the idea of an alternate London.) I had to run right over to BookMooch and add your book to my wishlist there. :-D
