Don't really have favorite authors, just favorite subjects. I really do most of my reading on the internet and most of this is crap I've been dragging around for 25 years.

This exercise has taught me that I am disgusted with my dependence on consumption and rampant consumerism.

OK, I'm over it now.

I like old pulp fantasy. I don't read many fantasy authors after Tolkien because I think, like Eddie Van Halen, by reaching the pinnacle of his genre, he destroyed it by birthing so many imitators. So many have tried to emulate Tolkien and in doing so, the convention is now to merely create giant, complex fictional worlds with unique species and vocabulary drawn out in book after book after book with overbearing social commentary and political overtones.

Yawn.
I ain't impressed.

About my library I'm doing this so that I have a web-accessible inventory to access from stores and hopefully prevent buying duplicates of things I already own and prevent missed opportunities to buy things I thought I had but don't.

For this reason I will try to make sure covers are represented accurately, but since the inmates seem to run the asylum here- I mean, users get to edit in Wikipedia-type fashion, the Great Unwashed have jacked up most of the fantasy /Sci Fi titles. It will likely take me ages to get my fantasy books up as you dumbasses have information from every publication of a book at EACH publication-date entry. This is kinda dumb. Therefore it will take forever to research each entry of each copy of each book that I have.

If people at small, independent stores wanted to make any effort at all, they could look at my stuff online and Email me, "Hey! I see you have the entire 1978 ACE printing of the Elric books as well the 1987 Dell reprint of the series. You have most of the 1995 reprints, but you're missing Elric at the End of Time and I've got one behind the counter for you." (yes I realize most of those dates and publishers are wrong for the Elric books)

Or I can just buy from Ebay, where people seem to understand customer service.
