About meA Year after the death of my wife:

This year of sorrow has come and gone too fast
Compressed in that bleak midwinter of the soul
where loneliness conspires with loving memories

and stirs our longings to again be whole.
Life sways, turns, and demands its due
while years of thunder,
though now but few
are still within my grasp.

About my libraryEclectic but weighted in favor of concepts over measuring and reflective of an ongoing struggle to balance fiction and non-fiction, science and religion, right and left, modern and postmodern, history and present, serious and humorous, politics and culture, etc. When the family moved to the US from Brazil in 1991 I had to sell all but a few of my most prized books, forever depriving my library of a certain balance. And by the way, I cannot abide ebooks.

Hey,
Just wanted to say I enjoyed your review of The Origin of Species.
Best,

Hi Kendall,
Thanks for accepting and adding me as an interesting library. I noticed we have 12 books in common and glancing through your library I can see you have a lot of interesting books in your collection.

Happy reading,
Irene
Nope, I have no control over the shipping, and no idea when the publishers actually get around to sending them out.

Best,
Abby
Nice to see you on the group Jürgen Moltmann! ~thom
Hi Kendall
I was interested to read your profile and thank you for the access to your website. I noticed that we share A Death in Brazil. My son married a Brazilian girl in Recife, thus my interest. We have visited tehm twice in teh last three years and found the cultural chanage life changing! I found it a fascinating book. Best wishes to you and yours.
Maybe you should wonder why this book is so popular!!
Hi Kendall-- LitPAC is on a bit of a hiatus, seeing as it's after the election. Once we figure out what we can do to prepare for the next one, we'll be back. Thanks for your interest, though!
Thanks for the help - all my ratings are gone !
Hi,

there's something wrong with my rating : I tried to erase all my ratings but as a result they all got down to one star only. Maybe you can tell me how to get rid of all the stars. By the way, Karamazov is indeed an alltime great !
