About meI confess to consternation at being elderly, but the condition, though fatal, has allowed me to retire and pursue the two things in life that had always escaped me: teaching and writing. For the first, I teach ESL and for the second I am writing a novel.
Whether the talent required to write survived 30 years of business English is an open question; that it ever existed is an assumption I have no basis for--but like to believe. I had a modicum of success in business during the first years, disillusionment in the middle, and a personal tragedy at the end. Along the way my first wife and I raised 3 kids so outstanding as to be the only source of doubt I ever had about their mother.
Depressed after the untimely death of my first wife of cancer, I eventually married a wonderful lady who also writes and is helping me answer the final question: can an old guy reinvent himself.

About my libraryEclectic but weighted in favor of concepts over measuring and reflective of an ongoing struggle to balance fiction and non-fiction, science and religion, right and left, etc. When the family moved to the US from Brazil in 1991 I had to sell all but a few of my most prized books, forever depriving my library of a certain balance.
