About meI am a writer from the Philippines whose aim is to provide non-Catholic themed horror stories. I am attracted to the psychological, the theatrical, and the murderous. I like listening to good music (like Diamanda Galas, Jeff Buckley, Babes in Toyland... and a lot of other great musicians... I don't know how to play a musical instrument though... Darn!), I love reading books. But lately, with work (and the lack thereof in about a month's time), I'm getting less and less time reading. Although, I try to read at least 50pp a day. I write when... I have time, as well. I have two, or three short pieces that I have been trying to finish. I guess, I'll finish them in March, when I'm back to being unemployed.

About my libraryI like reading about almost anything. I think I'm reading books by American authors less and less. The only american author whom I read a lot is Joyce Carol Oates. I love Poppy Z. Brite too. I only buy what I like to read, and I do blind buys (hey, I got A. M. Homes's End of Alice and I thought it was one of my greatest blind buys). I like reading horror, and gore most of the time. This is when I don't want to read anything heavy. I think Samuel Beckett's Molloy is one of the most difficult read I've ever done. It's not because it had a heavy theme, but because the language is hard to get by. It was rewarding in the sense that, stylistically, and thematically, you can get away with anything, if you're that talented.

Hi,

Was wondering if you'd be interested in reviewing my new novel and posting your comments here as well as a few other book-related sites. Saw you liked Butcher Boy, and I thought you might like my novel since it's also about a disturbed adolescent and a bit dark. I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like. Let me know if you're interested. Here's a link to a summary in case you're interested:

Thanks,
I got a copy of The Hand of the Enemy yesterday from the Power Books in Green Belt! *doing dance of joy* I've been waiting to have a copy for years now. The pressure is on. I feel like I have to read it very slowly and deeply, to make sense of my long anticipation :)
Good luck with your story collection. I hope you'll send out a press release to your LT buddies when it's published.
Hello astroantiquity, thanks for the definition of non-Catholic horror stories. I'll definitely check NBS for Polotan's novel next time I'm home. I find it ironic that we're both Filipino and yet the book we share in common is not by a Filipino author. Would I have read any of your work if I'm not into horror fiction? Cheers!
Hi Dizzydame! I got kerima's Hand of the Enemy from National Bookstore. And then, I got the other Kerimas at the UP Bookstore which is located at the Bahay ng Alumni in UPdil.

A catholic themed horror story, for me, is a story which makes use of catholic dogmas or imageries to push forward the story. The opposite of which uses none of them(to be simplistic about it). ;P
Hi, what is a non-Catholic themed horror story? What is a Catholic-themed horror story?

I looked up your profile because I wanted to ask where you got your copy of Kerima Polotan's Hand of the Enemy.

Thanks!
Hi, I got Cows through Amazon with no problems. In my opinion not a patch on High Life.
