About my library Children's room at the Mattapan branch of the Boston Public Library. This is a very limited experiment to see how helpful my librarything tags are versus the main catalogue. Hi Ann,

How many Winifreds can there be at Simmons....we must have met - but under what cirumstances?

I looked at your profile so I knew where you were working but I blathered on about the school to explain why I was tagging what.

Hi Ann,

I am a consultant for the library at the k-8 Mission Hill School right around the corner from Roxbury Crossing T.

It is a pilot school which means it faces unusual challenges as a public school. It is fortunate to have already have a library co-ordinatior but did not have a working catalog when I came aboard and was flooded with books in all manner of processsing to returns.

I am using LibraryThing as a bucket until BPS gets its act together in the Media services dept. It doesn't help that we are a pilot school. Until we get a accesss to a fully supported online catalog - we will be using LT.

It is hardly perfect for an elememtary school - but such is life. Because there won't be much of an information literacy program until they hire an MLS full-time and thus there isn't time to explain much about indices- I am using Tags as a way into more books such as biographical anthologies. It is tedious but we only have about 15 so its do-able.

I am still figuring out LT so I can explain it to our junior high and teachers.

This is the library's webstie in beta

I will have to make a visit to Mattapan to visit.

Take care,

Winifred
