Are you by chance an astronomer?

Oh, hi. Naw, I wish. Me, I'm just an amateur.

(That photo is the transit of Venus, taken through my little Meade ETX.)

I went to a Great Big Nerd School - and I'm a physicist manqué myself - so I know a couple astronomers, a couple of physicists/materials engineers, a couple of geologists, lots of people like that: but no, not me.
Did you know that LTC Rolt was a good friend of Robert Aickman's? They founded the Inland Waterways Association together but later had a falling out.
And I found that book just browsing through the stacks at Half Price Books. It's just a wonderful thing - discovering a new ghost story or a writer I hadn't heard of before.
Yes, L.T.C. Rolt is can't-miss for anyone who enjoys classic ghost fiction. An excellent collection you have! We overlap on a very high percentage, don't we? I wonder whether you've considered joining the Ghost Stories Past and Present group.
Hello Richard,

Agree about the Rolt collection; great stories! I'm currently dipping in and out of Charlton's UNDESIRABLE GUESTS, and finding it very enjoyable. Congratulations on an enviable collection!
Hi,
Yes we do have several books in common. Can I ask, given the price that the Ghost Story Press volumes now command, would you say that James Platt's TALES OF THE SUPERNATURAL, is one that is worth pursuing?

If you like film and supernatural suspense rather than visceral horror can I recommend 'Bright Darkness: The lost art of the supernatural horror film' by Jeremy Dyson (of the League of Gentlemen).
Best wishes, paul
thanks - what I lack in discrimination I make up for in volume. The Arkhams weren't that difficult 35 years ago when I began collecting, and I was able to put together a complete set (it helps I live here close to Sauk City.) Some have departed in various purges - and I regret that, but more must go. Yours is a lovely library - congratulations
Hi Richard,
I just wanted to say hello to the only other LibraryThing-er with a copy of The Haunting of Cashen's Gap. So; whatever do you think Gef might have been? Best of luck with your move, if it hasn't happened yet. Wouldn't an industrious brownie or two come in handy, for all the removal....
what you could learn from me is how to crowd yourself and your nearest and dearest into a corner - and a thing or two about silverfish breeding - but, to bruno schulz: have you checked out robert walser. his jakob von gunten would be right up your alley... several collections of shorts as well.
