About meA United Methodist pastor residing in the easter panhandle of West Virginia (a couple of hours west of D.C. - Baltimore area) and loving it! Married with two college age sons. Currently working on continuing education in spiritual formation and directing through Pittsburgh Theological Seminary.
Am a native-born West Virginian and proud of my Appalachian heritage. Enjoy being a pastor and my hobbies include reading (of course!), collecting books (all kinds), and traveling (especially cruises),

About my libraryAs noted most of my library is in the areas of prayer, spiritual formation, Christian classics, etc. I am an avid Stephen King fan; also enjoy reading many of the medieval mystics and church fathers/mothers, Harry Potter, and J. R. R. Tolkien.

Thanks, Roy! I'm still learning my way around Librarything. More familiar with goodreads.
Hi Roy,

Thanks for your comment. I've been away from LibraryThing for the past few weeks, or I'd have responded sooner. I'm an Episcopal priest, currently on academic leave, working on a PhD in liturgical studies at the University of Notre Dame. I've entered a little over half of my collection into LT, and I'm hoping to have the rest put in by Christmas.

Blessings,

Roy,
Glad to hear that you're safely ensconced (and almost through) at PTS.
A part of my family is also from West Virginia - the other side, on the Ohio River at Sistersville, New Martinsville (no relation). Lots of family lore emanating from that part of the country.
By sheerest chance, one of my good friends (alas, now dead) was from Morgantown, W.VA, and his name was Roy McKnight.
I'm brand new to this myself. I have a little more than 20 years seniority on you. It's taking a little longer for me to post all my books. I had the good common sense to put my computer on the second floor and my library on the first. I don't have a network set-up, so I'm getting my exercise.
That's all beside the point. I wanted to welcome you to Pittsburgh and especially the Seminary where I was on the staff for awhile. You're in for a real intellectual and social treat. If you really want to become immersed in the Reformed Tradition, arrange for a discussion with Charles Partee and/or Andrew Purves of the faculty.
I was born and raised in the old United Presbyterian Church, N.A. (that's North America -- not, 'not applicable') and have remained in the Presbyterian denomination my whole life. I am convinced that the best answer to an atheist is the action of a devoted and active congregation serving selflessly the will of God. No books or discussion can ultimately change his/her mind. whmgoat@comcast.net
My father (I'm catalogueing his books on pyattlibrary) is also a Methodist minister, in North Carolina. My mom bought Life in the Fish Bowl last summer at Lake Junaluska--I found your library because I was wondering who else had that book.
