I read a lot of sci-fi, fantasy, and speculative fiction. You can't go wrong with anything in that vein. I also read a lot of comics/graphic novels, but I'm pretty well covered in that department at the moment.
The Windup Girl by Paolo Bacigalupi (a previous SantaThing gift!), The Quick by Lauren Owen, An Unkindness of Ghosts by Rivers Solomon, and The Wanderers by Meg Howrey.
I'm making an effort to read books by more diverse authors, so, stuff translated into English, written by women, authors of color, etc. would be appreciated!
You can see what I've been reading this year here: http://www.librarything.com/catalog/lorannen&tag=2018.
Don't get this!
Nonfiction, YA*, romance, or the Jonathan Franzen-esque.
*It's not that I don't like YA, period, but I'm a bit picky about it, and haven't yet figured out what the formula is for YA I do vs. don't like. If you've got one in mind that you think would be perfect for me, I'll give it a whirl!
My LT library is completely up-to-date. Anything currently on my Wishlist is fair game, though I love surprises, and would prefer things that aren't already on my radar. I'll be happy either way, but I like to use SantaThing as a way to discover books/authors I might be missing out on!
