We loved the melodic tone, the fun repetitions, and beautiful illustrations. A great book fair find! ( )

Fun, rhyming text with great illustrations, this one can be participatory because it repeats at the end of each section. It might be a little long for toddlers, but great for preschool or elementary story time. ( )

In my opinion, this is a good book for many reasons. First, I really like the language. It is clear and patterned. Every page introduces a new animal on a farm and what they typically eat, then the next page will repeat all of the animals already talked about in the story and what they eat as well. This is good because it helps keep the story clear and make sure it doesn't get confusing. Another thing that I liked were the illustrations. They helped enhance the story because they were ver detailed and showed exactly what animal was being talked about and exactly what food they were eating. The final thing I liked was the characters. The farmer and the animals were very believable. The farmer was a typical old man who fed all the animals their food everyday. One thing I didn't like was the plot. It was kind of boring because every page was the same until the end when the farmer and cow had a picnic for lunch. The main idea of this book is that it is okay to like different things. The typical cow does not normally eat cookies for lunch, but it was okay that he did because not everyone has to like what they are normed to like. ( )
