Book Eternity Reviews "I absolutely loved this story. It paints a rich and vivid picture of the Dog Soldiers and their way of life, fitting this history into the story in such a way you learn a lot about the Dog Soldiers without being lectured. I really liked how Diablo doesn't try to turn the Cheyenne into 'noble savages' as sometimes happens in romance, but how she writes them with both their good and bad sides, making them more real and recognizable this way." 5 Stars "A fantastic book. The author did a lot of research into the history and the culture of the Dog Soldiers. The book is full of action, romance, and I felt the character's emotions throughout the story. The way time travel was incorporated in the story was believable and worked very well with the storyline.A page-turner I could not put it down." FIVE STARS Books R Us "Through the lives of these three people, Diablo spins a vivid account of how grueling and sometimes brutal the life of a Dog Soldier could be. I loved how she wove the rituals and beliefs of the Cheyenne people throughout the tale as if you were there seeing it first hand. This is a historical romance sure to magically sweep you back in time. A must read!" Paranormal Romance Reviews - 5 Stars! Ethan is knows as I Am The Wind or Meko. He travels the decades that divide the present with those of the Cheyenne from the past. He takes his duties seriously and puts his people first.

Francesca and her brother Marshall moved with their family to Colorado for the gold rush. She and her brother were taken captive by the Cheyenne dog soldiers. She wanted to dislike Meko but there is a strong connection between them.

Through the love hate relationship Meko and Cesca go through a lot together which makes this story so remarkable. The choices they both make are hard and you feel for both of them. The story will make you weep it is so moving. The author did her job in research and it shows. The reader will be flipping the pages to see what happens next. ( )

Romance, Historical… Really not my thing but this wasn’t so bad However, I believe I saw this in a lifetime family movie here back when I was like 18. A lot of the story was really déjà vu for me as it was something I felt and sensed I had read or knew before. I did not like how predictable it was or how the story veered from great GOOD flow to input and over abundance of sex scenes. I love historical stories as well as anything native american as I feel often times it’s a culture lost but , Towards the end I felt like I was reading more sex and missing more of what was going on and what was going to happen. Though the concept was really good and for others this is and probably will be a very GOOD book. I however just did not feel the pull and passion to read as I normally do taking me longer than usual to actually get through and finish the book. Please do not let my review deteer you however, others like things that I usually do not being an extremely picky reader I urge you all to pick up this book and give it a chance you may decide otherwise that you enjoy it much more than I could. Where the Rain is Made by Keta Diablo is a hot and spicy romance novel soaked in history and mysticism, which immediately gripped my attention and had me anticipating the turn of each page until the very end! I admit I’m a sucker for a good love story, but Where the Rain is Made was much more than a sappy tale of star-crossed lovers with an exciting sex scene or two. This book is filled with love and hate, life and death, and choices not one of us would ever want to make.

Ethan Gray was an Assistant Curator for one of the most admirable museums in the country. He worked with Native American artifacts, providing the museum identification and history of each piece along with stories about the people and their ways. Being a Cheyenne he grew up being told the tales of his ancestors lifestyles and traditions. But he had also lived and breathed this lifestyle, just as they had so many years ago. Ethan was a time wanderer. The Cheyenne Sacred Council had sought out Ethan to aid them in setting things right with the past, sending him back in time to watch over his people and lead them safely and fiercely through their hardships. He had successfully completed his missions time after time, never faltering from the sacred Council’s plan, but this time would be different. She would be there, and she would change everything.

Mr. Duvall had caught himself a bit of the gold fever and decided to move his family, daughter Francesca and son Marshall, from the civilized comforts of New York city to the untamed plains of Colorado. This was not the white man’s land but that didn’t stop them from stealing it away, ravaging through the native’s villages destroying their livelihood and annihilating the people. The Cheyenne were left no choice but to defend themselves, fighting fire with fire they attacked the white man with full force. Soon Francesca’s world would be torn apart as she and her brother were taken captive by the Cheyenne dog soldiers. Why had their lives been spared? They were of no use to these cold and brutal savages yet they were shown mercy and brought to live among the people in their village. As much as Cesca struggled with her new way of living, she couldn’t fight the heavy desire she felt whenever she looked upon or even thought of I Am The Wind. The connection they shared was intense and went beyond the lustful thoughts that constantly ran through both of their minds. There was no going back now.

I highly recommend this book! The tension between the two main characters was incredible and had me craving the pages to come! There was so much emotion in this story and I sincerely felt for each of the characters and what they had been through. I am hoping and wishing there will be a sequel soon!! Loved Where the Rain is Made!

This fine time-travel novel hooked me early on and provided non-stop thrills and adventure throughout the entire book. It’s one of those stories that grab you by the throat; relentlessly holding the reader in thrall as the author crafts a believable, historically realistic tale of Native American life in the mid 1860’s on the American Plains. The Cheyenne were one of the fiercest fighting tribes and the Dog Soldier Warriors of the Cheyenne tribe were some of the most courageous and lethal fighters of that era. In small doses, the author expertly weaves tidbits of the history and tribal myths of Cheyenne customs and lore throughout the narrative.

This story revolves around the capture and ultimate fate of a young woman, Francesca Duvall, by the mysterious, enigmatic leader of the Dog Soldiers who also is an immortal Time Wanderer. Called Meko (I Am The Wind) by his fellow warriors and tribes peoples he also resides here, with us, in the present time. When he is not on assignment for the Sacred Council he is Ethan Gray, a museum curator who specializes in Native American artifacts. Most of this fascinating story plays out amid the backdrop of the American Plains and within the village of the Dog Soldiers. As the story unfolds I was awed by the descriptions of the life and times of the Dog Soldiers. The brutality and savagery of their existence living on the razor edge as the never-ending hoards of white settlers encroached mercilessly westward kept my heart pounding, my pulse racing and my fingers flipping the pages.

While the story is ultimately about the relationship that develops between Cesca and Meko, the secondary characters are also wonderfully realized, believable and often provide a measure of levity and tenderness. My personal favorite was BrownWing, Meko’s foster mother. She also becomes a mentor and friend to the headstrong Cesca. Brown Wing is the epitome of wisdom, maturity and humor. The characters, their quirks and their humanity resonated with me and I was sorry to leave them behind me at the conclusion of the novel. I hope to see some of these characters again in future stories by this author. I highly recommend Where The Rain Is Made to all fans of historical, paranormal, romance fiction. It is undeniably enthralling! ( )
