“God grant me the serenity to accept that which I cannot change, the courage to change that which I can, and the wisdom to know the difference” (Reynolds 151). Jeff your typical teenager currently attending Hamilton Heights High School, has his life planned out as if nothing could go wrong. He had his dreams set high on Booker University and will have a full ride if he does well in his debate tournament. Jeff also had a girl friend named Christy. Christy had her own dreams too, she wants to work with deaf children. Christy doesn’t have the perfect life, her dad is controlling and doesn’t want her to do much, but sure enough something changes Christy and Jeff’s life.

Marilyn Reynolds is the author of "Too Soon For Jeff" she writes lots of books for young adults to enjoy. Reynolds is the author of numerous essays which have appeared in the Chicago Tribune, Los Angeles Times, Dallas Morning News, and San Francisco Chronicle, and other national newspapers. She balances her time between writing and working with high school students. She is the wife of Mike Reynolds and the mother of two.

Christy is an average teenage girl looking for someone to love her because she feels that she isn’t getting that love from her family, but she is looking in all the wrong places. Christy and Jeff spend a lot of time together and they do stuff they shouldn’t be doing. Christy and Jeff were a kind of love at first sight. They both have an interest in sexual intercourse but they don’t use protection, since Christy was on the “pill”. Reality hits when Christy finds out she is pregnant and Jeff breaks up with her.

Christy is forced to make the life changing decision of adoption or abortion. I didn’t like this book until the end because I thought Jeff was wrong for wanting Christy to put away there child, but when the baby is born and Christy turns on the baby not even wanting to name it. Jeff realizes that he has to do what’s right.

Read "Too Soon For Jeff" to find out what happens to Christy, Jeff, and their baby. Reading this book made me realize that only I can change a problem but I still have to know the difference of what can be changed. ( )
