At the beginning of the summer, Clio Kaid was one of a hundred teens brought to a secret Army installation. But it was no ordinary camp and they weren't ordinary kids...Picking up where "Solid" left off, Clio and her friends realize that they aren't ready to go home; they're determined to stay on campus and continue their journey of self- discovery. But someone doesn't feel the same way and will do anything to drive them away - even kill. Good book! This is the 2nd book in the series and we see the genetically altered teens learning more about their abilities and their friendship. This was a quick read and had a good mystery to solve. I would have liked more story around their abilities because I was still curious about what they could do. Also, this is mostly from Clio's POV and it would have been a bit more interesting if we had perspectives from some of her friends. I'm looking forward to #3 because there are still so many unanswered questions! ( )

Shelley does it again. Settling was an awesome addition to her Solid Series. I couldn't put the book down. I loved getting reacquainted with the old characters and then getting to meet some new ones. Lieutenant Graham a.k.a. Ford, Xavier Wittman, and Rae Mahoney bring a new dynamic to Settling's motley crew of characters. I like the fact that Ford is closer in age to the kids in this story because it gives the kids a more approachable person to turn to. This story has some great OMG moments which blew me away. There are so MANY things I want to say but it would so be giving things away....yikes. Clio is a great character with more teen angst than you can shake a stick at and that's what keeps me reading. If this book was all hearts and flowers, sure it would be good, but it wouldn't be what we have come to expect from Shelley and her wonderfully crafted characters. On a scale from 1-10 I give Settling a HUGE 10. I thought Shelley did a great job of continuing her sage of her characters search for answers when it comes to C9x. Who doesn't love a good military cover up....lol. If you liked Solid you need to read Settling. If you haven't read Solid pick up both Solid and Settling and join the rest of us searching for answers and unmasking a very clever killer. ( )

I enjoyed this second novel as much as the first! It is a high energy and fast paced story that has great characters and super hero action scenes.
As Caliope and her friends are still continuing their training and schooling, murders have begun to happen. They are trying to continue on with learning more about what is going on, building up their powers all while trying to figure out who is committing the murders. And, last but not least, stay alive.
My favorite part of these stories so far have been the characters. I enjoy the dialogue and banter between them. Very humorous lines amidst the amazing super hero powers and the crazy killer.
If I were able to choose my super-hero power it would also be to turn invisible. ( )

Great sequel to "solid". Totally captivated me from the beginning and I loved how the characters evolved. At first I though Garrett was a bit annoying with his arrogance in Solid but he has grown on me to the point of being one of my favorites. Hightly recommend this for all ages but esp. preteen-teens....books clubs! ( )
