It could be used to teaching expression and fluency. I used it for a reading lesson and it did great for an echo read. ( )

Bob is a very sensitive dog who accidentally swallows a canary while he is out running with his mouth open. Bob feels terrible about it and gets help from other animal friends. They have solutions like holding him upside down, but the bird doesn't come out. Finally the bird's mother hollers at the bird to come out and we learn that the bird flew in on his own to avoid cleaning his room. It is an unexpected ending that children will like. The poor bird is punished by having to clean Bob's room. The illustrations are very colorful. ( )
