This book is ludicrous and I would have adored it as a kid. 7th grader Lenny's best friend Casper purchases a very convincing fake mustache that for some reason has the power of mind control. He uses it to rob a bank and ultimately run for president. Lenny is the only person who can see through the disguise. Along the way he gets help from Jodie O'Rodeo, a TV star who sings and rides a horse. It's not a long book, but it's extremely silly and fun even for this adult reader. Lenny's best friend purchases a mustache at a novelty shop that enables him to quickly assume world domination. As you can imagine, this is a ridiculously mad caper as Lenny, in league with child TV star Jodeo O'Rodeo, tries to prevent Casper from ruining the world. One for the boys, reluctant readers, and anyone who appreciates slapstick hijinks. no reviews | add a review
Lenny Flem Jr. is the only one standing between his evil-genius best friend, Casper, and world domination as Casper uses a spectacularly convincing fake mustache and the ability to hypnotize to rob banks, amass a vast fortune, and run for president. No library descriptions found. |

I liked "Horton Halfpott" better; this one was a bit over-the-top for me.

Re-read this as part of a mini kids' book club I'm organizing at the library. I didn't dislike it this time, but it's still not my favorite Angleberger. ( )
