How delightful that Seanan Maguire offers these background short stories on her website for free -- it's a really nice way to get introduced to the previous family members that we know of only by repute. Fast paced, satisfying. ( )

I liked the concept of how trains interact with the boundaries between realities. ( )

The InCryptid series contains a lot of free stories that you can download from the author's website. Some short stories, which have been published in anthology are not available, and these I will (most likely) not be reviewing.

So, #0.01 to #0.14 deal with Jonathan Healy and Frances Brown (the great-grandparents of Verity) and their adventures. In this story I felt like I was really missing something, not having read the very first one. However, even on it's own it was an amusing and super fast read. There are a lot more stories to come in this series-in-a-series, and since they're all short, I will probably read them (almost) back to back. ( )

I really like these glimpses into the Jonathan and Frances' lives. They're a fun part of the InCryptid universe. ( )

While I am waiting for my copy of [b:Discount Armageddon|11402002|Discount Armageddon (InCryptid, #1)|Seanan McGuire|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1317332235s/11402002.jpg|16334571] to arrive, I decided to start reading the short story prequels on Seanan McGuire's website so that I know more about the world that McGuire has created. Easy to follow and get into [b:One Hell of a Ride|13495349|One Hell of a Ride (InCryptid, #0.2)|Seanan McGuire|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1329894733s/13495349.jpg|19037780] did just that. The field notes on the authors website helped too. This is my first Seanan McGuire story as herself. I know her better as [a:Mira Grant|3153776|Mira Grant|http://photo.goodreads.com/authors/1282493757p2/3153776.jpg] and I love all her work under the pen name. This didn't disappoint me and it's got me excited to start the next short story and Discount Armageddon itself. It's a good intro into this world and Seanan's work. ( )
