Driving home one night, high on drugs and drink, Billy has a car accident. There starts his encounter with Frank Whitehouse and his world. But Billy doesn't report the accident, and Frank is the biggest criminal in Edinburgh. Billy, meanwhile is a crime reporter for the local newspaper.

Things soon spiral out of hand in all kinds of directions.

This is a great story. Not as greusome as I thought, given its description as "pitch-black psychological thriller" - but I was grateful for that!

Doug Johnson says that he writes fiction with 'no fat'. How refreshing that is. No flowery descriptions, just the story. Generally I just felt sad for Billy, which is no bad thing for a story to evoke emotion for the lead character.

Very enjoyable and easily readable ( )
