"If you've been waiting for the next Black Dagger Brotherhood, this is it!" -GraveTells

Micah is a vampire with a bad reputation who has nothing left to live for. Samantha is a feisty exotic dancer in hiding from her abusive ex . . . and she just became Micah's reason to live. Now he'll do anything to protect her, or die trying.

A USA Today Recommended Read.

Ex-Army medic Samantha is on the run from her abusive and controlling ex-husband. To stay off the grid, she lives in a rundown, one-room apartment and works for cash under-the-table as a dancer in a swanky gentleman's club, but she can't shake the fear that at any moment, her ex will find her and drag her back to a life of terror.

Ancient vampire Micah Black is a notorious loner. After a life filled with tragedy and loss, he's grown indifferent to compassion, happiness . . . and love. With nothing left to live for, he's ready to die and enlists an immortal foe who's only too happy to see Micah dead to do the deed.

When Sam inadvertently thwarts the attempt on Micah's life, the unlikely pair become ensnared by an attraction neither can deny. In Sam, Micah finds a reason to live—and love—again, but now that she's put a target on her back, he'll have to pull out all the stops to protect her. With her obsessive ex closing in and an enemy who will stop at nothing to take revenge and finish what he started, are the odds stacked too heavily against Micah? Or will finding something worth fighting for give him the edge he needs to keep Sam alive?

Enter the world of All the King's Men and be ready to hold on to your hat. The action is fast-paced, hot, and the twists and turns will keep you guessing until the very end. And if you're not careful, you might just fall in love and wish these vampires could visit you in the deep, dark hours of night when no one's watching.

Books in this series, in reading order:
Rise of the Fallen
Heart of the Warrior
Micah's Calling
Rebel Obsession
Return of the Assassin
All the King's Men - The Beginning
Bound Guardian Angel
BLACK
Micah's Bride
Raven's Gift

NOTE: While this book and the majority of the series revolves around heterosexual relationships, there will be homosexual relationships and graphic content explored in this book and others in the AKM Series. The author believes that love is love, and that love comes in all flavors and orientations, especially in the world of immortal vampires. If this isn't your cup of tea, no harm no foul, but this isn't the series for you. I would rather you not buy the books than risk getting a bad review because you didn't like this particular flavor of sauce. Perhaps my Strong Karma, Banger, or Forbidden Flowers Series would be a better fit for you. Thank you.

Rise of the Fallen Book #1 is an Adult Paranormal Urban Fantasy Erotic Romance in the All the King's Men series. I remember enjoying it more the 1st time I read it. Some minor glitches are editing mistakes in my Kindle copy (nothing that took away from the story) and the beginning had a tendency to drag a little. A couple of times the story got repetitive. Those words could have been used better building the different characters involved, the role of the AKM.
I got caught up in the story of Micah and Sam. Samantha is a strong individual and intelligent. Micah is crazy with grief and insane! The changes that Sam brought about in him are striking. There are some really hot scenes between them. Another erotic scene took place between 2 other characters that really captured your attention. Also, the character Trace was intriguing. His part in the story line really keeps your curiosity working overtime.
With a little tweaking this could have EASY been a 5 star book.

First off, this book is pure fluff. If you are looking for something with any kind of depth, move on. That said, it is a very well written bit of fluff with enjoyable characters, an interesting and original take on vampire romance and almost none of the over-done tropes that have killed most vampire romances for me.

The plot of this book reminded me a lot of the old Robin William's movie Dead Poets Society. No that this story has anything in common with a movie about a preppy boys school, but because like Dead Poets Society, Rise of the Fallen interweaves multiple plots together. None of the plots are extensively developed (there isn't time) but the interweaving is well done, the 'main' plot is brought to fun and satisfactory conclusion, and the inclusion of the other plots gives the story a sense of continuity, that life goes on even if this book is over.

Looking forward to picking up the next book in the series.

This book includes some F/m scenes, very light and playful, but skip it if that isn't your thing. ( )

As soon as the writer described the hero putting product in his hair I was D-O-N-E, done! I don't know why that was such a huge turn-off for me. I guess I just want my Alphas to be above worrying about how their hair looks. DNF

A fallen vampire who has lost a loved one is determined to end his life the most painful way he knows how to. But then a beautiful dancer saves his life one too many times. ( )

Once I start reading a book, I make myself finish it. This one sucked me in with the promise of vampires, but it just wasn't that great. I should have realized what I was getting into with that cover and all. ( )
