This poem book seems to be about capturing memories in a children's early childhood, which is good because it's hard to remember things from birth. It captures beautiful memories with grandparents, families, events, etc. I think it's about keeping memories saved in a box where they will stay there forever. ( ) I really liked this book from the moment I picked it up. This book captures memories of childhood, and writes beautifully. It has many different poems from different memories of what captures childhood from fishing with your grandpa to playing board games with your family, it captures all the emotion of a simple moment in time. This book is brilliant. Right off the bat, in the first poem, you can see deeper meaning behind the poetry. I really enjoyed the realistic illustrations as well. My favorite poems were Monopoly, Keepers, A Frog in a Well Explains the World, Dinosaur Bone and My Old Dog. In contrast to her book, A Lucky Thing, these poems are much more complex and are full of opportunities for interpretation. I feel like this is a book that should be read to a child, poem by poem. This book is about Alice's own life experiences expressed in poems. She expressions through paintings and poems and shows how she felt growing up. These poems make you think of real life events that could happen to anybody. I think this would be appropriate for grades kindergarten through 8th grade. no reviews | add a review
