Around every corner, they are waiting. In every dark alley, they are lurking. Behind every door, they are hiding. For each survivor of the Upheaval, every day brings the same grim reality: the dead are coming. Book 8 of my zombie-a-thon!

Well I am very concerned about the grim future many authors paint of humanity should it be largely decimated by a zombie plague. Apparently the human survivors will not only be fighting the undead, but we will also be struggling to survive in a world overrun by power hungry sick and depraved sexual predators. It also feels like only Americans in the US will survive because these books imply that they all have at least 10 guns in their houses ready for these kinds of society ending events. I have no idea if this is true or not. All I can say is that I have a glue gun. I'm zombie fodder, people. Zombie fodder.

On to book 3 in this series as it has improved a little *whispers* but mostly I'm trying to get to double figures in my zombie-a-thon. ( )

This series is one I am not going to finish. It is laughable the way the main character can do no wrong. Will write more which will not be good ;)

Update January 25 2016. I did not write anymore which means it was so bad I had to stop. ( )

"Taking It Back" follows the main characters from book #1 during the next two years. It's interesting how John and his group manage to clear out small towns of zombies and then set-up small settlements along the river. During the winter, zombies are either frozen or extremely slow, and the various groups of survivors can easily dispose of the undead threats.

John's goal is to have each small settlement become self-sufficient, establish communication with others and develop a trade system along the river. Their travels through infected towns are filled with action, terror and hope - leaving readers to cheer on the teams as they scavenge and kill zombies. However, not all of them make it back to the base camp.

"Taking It Back" is an easy read, but as in the first installment, typos, missing / added words within sentences continues. Nevertheless, I enjoyed book two and look forward to reading the final installment.
