A sizzling, contemporary romance... Former Marine Scott O'Callaghan got into a fair amount of trouble as a teenager, but now he's grown and runs a respectable auto body shop. After eight years in the military, he's left his troublemaking past behind him. Unfortunately for him, the sheriff of his town has it out for him no matter how much he's cleaned up his act. When he's accused of a crime he didn't commit, no one is more surprised than him when straight laced Michaela Miller provides him with an alibi. An alibi that's a complete lie. Determined to find out why his sexy next door neighbor helped him out, he puts himself in danger of losing something he'd never considered. His heart.… (more)

Typical erotic romance story. There was little relationship development, mainly just sex and fluffy love feelings when they've spoken about five words to each other. I liked Scott and Michaela well enough - there wasn't much character development but what little there was, was fine. There was a whole unnecessary plot about the sheriff's nephew which didn't really add anything to the story. And the dad dying didn't really seem to cause any reaction. But it was alright, an easy enough short read. 2 stars. ( )

Well, if this book didn't hit all the right spots, I don't know what will!

I'm usually not one for short stories. I find them incomplete teasers that fail to satisfy me - though I have stumbled upon some examples that are the exceptions to this rule. It's often impossible - at least IMHO - to develop a character - more so, two of them - in a plot and background that won't make me feel like I'm being cheated. Like I said, there are those exceptions that are more than worth the little time it will take to read them. And then, there are short stories like this one.

Michaela and Scott have had the hots for each other since day one of becoming neighbors. But neither of them has made a move, afraid the other does not see them in a romantic way. Now, with the town's sheriff trying to pin a crime on Scott - a crime he did not commit - they find themselves sharing more than just their bed and time with each other. Michaela steps in and gives Scott an alibi - and Scott decides it's about time he mans up and takes what he's wanted all along. But can two people so different in social background be together? Or will their personal insecurities keep them apart?

While Tempting Alibi is just a quickie - at least according to my standards - , it still managed to keep my interest till the very last page. Two main characters that are not unique, but compliment each other and make the story flow smoothly. Humor combined with hotness is a very appreciated package. And a little mystery thrown in, to keep things spicy. It wasn't anything that made me go all fangirl-crazy - but it definitely brought a smile to my face and gave me an entertaining enough time.

This was my first time reading a Savannah Stuart book - and it certainly won't be my last. If all her stories are like this, I can't wait to get started on the rest of them!
