For a graphic novel, the illustrations are very boring. Marco has the same smile in 80% of the pictures. I think a graphic novel should have illustrations that hold up on their own. This one does not have that.
Another thing that I did care for was the scene where Marco was hitting multiple foul balls. No where in the story did it say how he was feeling. It just says he hit foul balls and then his coach came out to talk to him and then he wasn't hitting foul balls anymore. The only clue the reader gets into how he was feeling was a small frown on his face in the picture.
I love the idea of this book, so I gave it 2 stars. I also can see young sports-fans wanting to check this book out from the library. ( )
