Guinevere's portrayal starts out weaker in this last novel, and there are more episodes featuring the other characters which are irrelevant to the plot --maybe written to titillate the modern reader (e.g. Gawain's "wedding"). The ending finally shows some maturing, and neatly wraps up the final days. ( )
