I want the sequel! Some stuff strikes me as silly - like the god dad's ridiculous muscles, and the extreme attractiveness of all the nonevil characters, but all in all it seems like the beginning of a fun story with characters that I am curious to know more about. ( )

I normally loathe or at least dislike superhero stuff, no matter how hard the creators try to subvert the tropes of the genre, but for whatever reason I had great fun reading this.
Whether it's the art style, the dream-like setting or the sense of humour that, amazingly enough, connects, I don't know - but I really hope there's another volume. I enjoyed watching "Battling Boy" and his growing pains after being thrust suddenly into the role.

(MILD SPOILER: I feel like what he needs for future adventures is a badass, sturdy jacket. Oh well, time to go find out if they released any more.) ( )

Since it isn't made clear that this is the follow up to not one, but two books, going into this cold would be terrible. There's a whole world and characters that the reader is expected to know right away, along with all the histories and conflicts contained therein.

The colors and full-page spreads are very nice to look at, and while Battling Boy himself isn't much of a character (and Aurora basically isn't involved in the story at all), it seems as though the stage is set for him to grow and learn in a later book (which I can't seem to confirm that there's another one coming? This one has such an unsatisfactory conclusion that there must be). The whole "son of hero goes to prove himself on his own terms" storyline is a little cliche, but hopefully with the addition of Aurora there'll be some complications. ( )
