The characters are really well written, which was a bit of a shock to me. Usually, it takes a woman to really write through the perspective of the female heart and mind, but the author really did an excellent job capturing her struggles. I was very impressed by the depth of Ellen's character, especially since the characters of many other romance novels are quite shallow, and the novels are typically predictable within the first few chapters.
The only qualm I have with the novel is the lack of proper punctuation. Trying to read conversations without quotation marks was extremely difficult. If the novel were edited, mostly for punctuation, the polished result would be even better than it already is. ( )
