Henry L. Knauber was born on May 18, 1920, to parents Meda Miller] Knauber and Henry F. Knauber in Newtown, Schuylkill County, Pennsyvania. He was drafted into the U.S. Army at age 21, and then, several months later married Lorraine E. Jury on July 7, 1942. They had one son, Ronald E. Knauber. Henry resides in Wiconisco, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.
The diary is presented in its original form by Bob Fromme Jr.
Two pictures: (1) of a General Motors Corporation "DUKW", a six-wheel drive amphibious vehicle used for transporting goods and troops. Henry drove one of these at the Omaha Beach Landing on D-Day, June 6, 1944; (2) of Henry L. Knauber hiking on the Appalachian Trail.
