"The bloodthirsty Jit is dead, and against all odds Richard and Kahlan have survived. But a new menace has attacked them in the Dark Lands. Infected with the essence of death itself, robbed of his power as a war wizard, Richard must race against time to uncover and stop the infernal conspiracy assembling itself behind the wall far to the north. His friends and allies are already captives of this fell combination, and Kahlan, also touched by death's power, will die completely if Richard fails. Bereft of magic, Richard has only his sword, his wits, his capacity for insight -- and an extraordinary companion, the young Samantha, a healer just coming into her powers. Compelling, fast-moving, and intense, The Third Kingdom is a powerful tale that welcomes new readers to Terry Goodkind's world, while opening up new vistas of worldbuilding for longtime readers of the adventures of Richard Rahl and Kahlan Amnell"--… (more)

Lousy writing, but still fairly compelling, at least on an airplane ( )

Returning to the world of Richard, Kahlan and the Sword of Truth is like pulling on my favorite sweater and sipping a cup of hot tea on a winter afternoon. This book may be far from perfect, but its world and characters are familiar and occupy a fond place in my memory. One should not, however, dive into this book without having read the previous ones in the series. This book starts almost immediately where the preceding volume concluded and I can only imagine how lost an unfamiliar reader might be. Like most of the books in this series, the plot is fast-paced and makes for a quick, engrossing read, despite being 500+ pages. ( )

Love this series although it does feel like there is a change in his writing style since he first started the series all those years ago. Still grateful to get my Sword of Truth fix!!! ( )

Fantastisch verhaal. Wel heel bloederig allemaal. Het aandeel van Kahlan in dit deel was heel weinig. Ook Sammie / Samantha kwam niet echt uit de verf.

Misschien dat deel 3 weer meer actie gaat bevatten. ( )
