Home from their unexpected deployment, the former members of Marine Force Recon team Sidewinder rejoin their loved ones and try to pick up the pieces of the lives they were forced to leave behind. Ty Grady comes home to Zane Garrett, only to find that everything around him has changedâ??even the men he went to war with. He barely has time to adjust before his brother, Deuce, asks Ty to be his best man. But that isn't all Deuce asks Ty to do, and Ty must call for backup to deal with the business issues of Deuce's future father-in-law.

Nick O'Flaherty and Kelly Abbott join Ty and Zane at the wedding on an island in Scotland, thinking they're there to assuage Deuce's paranoia. But when bodies start dropping and boats start sinking, the four men get more involved with the festivities than they'd ever planned to.

With the clock ticking and the killer just as stuck on the isolated island as they are, Ty and Zane must navigate a veritable minefield of family, friends, and foes to stop the whole island from being destroyed.… (more)

I liked Ty & Zane, and Nick & Kelly (I really love these two). but I find the main plot of this book and its development boring and extremely far-fetched. ( )

Things I did like: the relationships, the struggles with trust and the mistery.
Things I didn't like: so much going on that we can catch a lot of loose ends ( )

Honestly what can I say about this book that hasn't been mentioned before. Either by me for the previous ones in the series, or by others in regards to this particular book. These guys are seriously addictive!

Unlike some other reviewers, I didn't have any issue with Nick and Kelly sharing the spotlight. I love both of these guys as well and I was happy to read more about them. The chemistry between them is just as hot as it is between Zane and Ty.

The suspense is again excellent, and all the twists and turns in the plot leave you guessing until the very end. There is a lot less sex in this book in comparison with previous ones, but I have to admit I didn't miss it either. It's definitely a book I didn't want to put down and I was sad when I had finished it! ( )

So, here's the deal: I absolutely adore Ty and Zane. I only recently read the first seven books in the series, and it was a happy week. The further I got in the series, the more I loved these boys. And then there were no more books to read, and weeks until Ball & Chain. Or so I thought; thanks to Riptide (and what a massive, HUGE, thanks it is!) it turned out I only had to be without my Ty & Zane fix for a little over a week. Yay!

From the very beginning of the book I felt a bit odd. The story didn't start - or go - anything like I'd expected. There was no Ty and Zane getting used to being around each other, no Ty getting used to civilian life. Instead it's off to Scotland almost right away. That's not what I thought would happen. But that's fine, it's not me who wrote the book.

And it's a really good book, a great story. The mystery reminded me of Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple, and I've always enjoyed both. Roux did and excellent job with the mystery. Brava. It just...isn't what Ty and Zane are to me. Yeah, bodies pile and blood gushes all around them, but even with all that until now the focus has still been on Ty and Zane. In Ball & Chain, not so much.

If one character was the star of the story, that character was Nick. And what came up about him surprised me. This isn't the Nick I've known before. But that's fine, it's not like it's been about Nick (and we're back to why I was so surprised by how huge his role in the story is). Now it was and it confused me; isn't Sidewinder series about Nick (and Kelly)? Whatever Roux's reason, it just doesn't really make sense to me.

As a story about Ty and Zane, Ball & Chain is on the bottom of my list. Nothing really happened to their story until the very end, and despite what happened being really, really good, it wasn't enough for me. And I really must say, I thought Zane was incredibly insensitive with his rejections to Ty proposing to him. I mean, it's not like he had to say yes, but where was his inner monologue about knowing, about sensing he's hurting Ty. Why didn't Nick bring it up with him? I kind of felt the story missed this. Overall I felt the proposals were approached too lightly. Just my opinion, though.

But as a generic mystery, this was great. Maybe a little too complicated; it was difficult to keep track of who is who, the lines between good guys and bad guys were very blurry, and in the end there were more questions than answers.

I'm not 100 % satisfied with this book but still I dropped everything I had to do today and read it in one sitting, and those hours I wouldn't change for anything. Now I just have one question: When is the next book coming? ( )

I am so in love with these books and these characters. I've relished every novel leading up to this one. But in my opinion, Abi really stepped it up to a whole new level with Ball & Chain. It is so fulfilling that I don't know how to categorize it: M/M, action, contemporary romance, mystery, drama, spy. A little of everything is thrown in. Also, it is sort of a double helping since we get Ty & Zane and Nick & Kelly.

In this episode, they all go to an island for a wedding. Of course, it being Ty & Zane, all hell breaks loose. The whole wedding party becomes stranded on the island with a murder or murders on the loose while our boys try to figure it out.
"Is this what traveling with you guys is usually like?"
"Yes," Ty and Zane both groaned.

All of the guys have such different personalities. I adore witnessing them play off each other. So much of this story is about relationships. We see sparks fly-love, hate, anger, sorrow, fright, passion. It's all in there. I idolize how strong these men are. Giving up is not in their vocabulary. I think I could just follow them around drooling for the rest of my life and be satisfied.

The sex is this book is so freaking hot too. Gawd, it needs to come with a fire alarm cause I flamed right up and melted. I worship at the feet of Ty & Zane. I
