"When a Senator's daughter is kidnapped by a mysterious group with ties to the supernatural . . . it's clearly a job for SEAL TEAM 666. As Triple Six gets involved, they discover links to the Zeta Cartel, a newly discovered temple beneath Mexico City, and a group known as Followers of the Flayed One. International politics, cross-border narco-terrorism, and an insidious force operating inside the team soon threaten to derail the mission. Forced to partner with several militant ex-patriots and a former Zeta hitman-turned-skinwalker, Triple Six is the world's only hope to stop the return of the Age of Blood"-- No library descriptions found. |

All the elements are there. Well-researched background. Interesting supernatural entities. A freaking Seal team devoted to fighting them.
But, along with that comes the author's unending desire to give you precise measurements and statistics and model numbers of all the weaponry at that team's fingertips. A little is okay, but this much makes me feel like I'm reading the catalogue to Seal Teams R Us. It's distracting.
And also, while most of the dialogue is good, when it comes time for someone to deliver information, Ochse again falls back on a dictionary-spewing info dump that even the audiobook reader had difficulty getting through.
So, much as I wanted to love this series, this is as far as I go. ( )
